On behalf of Meriwether Lewis, Philadelphia merchants Harvey & Worth sell over 1100 awls Israel Whelan, U.S. Army Purveyor of Public Supplies. The awls will be used mostly as gifts for the Native People that they will meet and eventually, to sew their own leather clothes.
